I have extensive seat time in an E90 M3 and spent several hours behind the wheel of an IS-F. Driving a C63 more than 5 minutes has eluded me. Who wants to buy !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and then road trip it home so I can drive it?

I tell you h’wut there’s a 1995 E320 AMG Special Edition near where I’ll be staying this weekend. 73k miles and all of $5,000. Wife says no.

Sounds like you should go for it.

You. Me. Cross country in this TSX wagon.

Wife actually said “NO MERCEDES” and then “we can go look, but no buying”. We shall see.

Shiieet if I had money!

It’s even got the technology package!

Sounds like she’s warming up to the ideal. It should also be before Mercedes decided it would be a good idea if they made their wiring insulation biodegradable.

What’s wrong with Mercedes, and all the trappings of fine German reliability that come with it?

Much as I love my 6-speed sedan, I actually wanted a wagon more. The only reason (aside from lack of manual) that I didn’t get one is because they hadn’t quite fallen into my price range yet. I may pick one up when I pay the sedan off.

Seems like it would be more financially prudent to just pay the Carmax transfer fee.

That sounds like way too much for any 124 that isn’t a 500e.

Unfortunately, the wiring issue was through 1996 build cars - starting 1992.

This is the one you want—it has the performance package for the same price with lower mileage. Too bad it’s a coupe, though.

Really? It looks pretty nice.

My E46 gave her a bad taste. How she expects a Mercedes that is 7 years older to give more issues I can’t understand.

That looks to be immaculate. But the chrome stuff throws me off because that’s not factory. Also the fact that AMG wasn’t part of Mercedes at the time, so who knows what mods it has, if any, if it’s real, or if there is any supporting documentation. If you do go check it out, make sure the engine wiring harness isn’t falling apart.

The chrome is off-putting, but I’ve lusted after one of these for a while.

I just went past that Carmax yesterday! If I’d known it was there I might have stopped.

You wanna road trip in an Arctic Metallic over Black ‘06 325i automatic?
That makes one of us.

Do you have any experience with the G8/ Chevy SS? I’m curious to see how they’d stack up against the M3 and IS-F.

Sometimes “Nah we can’t do this” turns to “Okay but be careful”.

I actually like the coupe.

Ah, I was unaware of what years it affected.

But not as fun.

My friend had a 2012. We both agreed that it needed either a 6MT or a V6. It was just a bit slow with the engine it came with. Fantastic highway car though.
He sold it to his parents in April of last year.

Sure why not.

I don’t have any experience with either of those. My past experiences with GM don’t bode well for me having an unbiased opinion towards the G8/SS.

Looks to be about the best place to start as far as non-500e 124's go.

I’ll see how it looks, and if that chrome can be removed. Ick.

It usually just sticks on with double-sided tape.

Road trip my next car with me, I’m finally gonna not settle, and I’m gonna wait for the perfect car to pop up, which probably means I’ll be traveling for it lol.
It’s either going to be:
E39 M5: lemans over blue or caramel.
E92 (maybe E90, idk yet) M3: Interlagos blue OR a nice BMW individual color over fox red, 6MT, no sunroof.
S2000: grand prix white OR black over red

All of those are probably going to be pretty hard to find.
What’s your time table looking like?
![]() 02/14/2018 at 20:03 |

Surprisingly they all really aren’t that difficult to find. I’ve always been able to find a few cars I liked, the problem is I always just shrugged off the idea of traveling for a car. I always like to check the car out in person first and stuff like that. Now I’m warming up to the idea of doing the distance thing.
Time table is honestly pretty open. I’d say likely within a year, or possibly even this summer. I may be getting rid of the Mercedes soon and possibly the 328i as well. It’s really just a lack of space being in a townhouse.

road and boat trip to Australia ok?
